Inside Flotilla: Grant Worsley, Senior Software Developer

Designing intuitive ESG platforms and growing alongside Flotilla

Grant Worsley joined Flotilla three years ago at a key stage in the company’s growth. Initially brought in to support the user experience and interface of Flotilla’s SaaS platform, Grant has since become a central contributor to how clients interact with and derive value from the product.

When Grant joined, he was early in his UX career, having recently completed a Google UX UI certification. Since then, he has rapidly developed his skills through hands on delivery, close collaboration with engineers and continuous learning. Today, as a Senior Software Developer, his work plays a critical role in shaping a platform that is intuitive, simple to use and commercially effective.

A core focus of Grant’s role is making complex ESG and sustainability data easy to understand and act on. This has had a direct impact on client experience and buying decisions, with usability and clarity frequently cited as reasons organisations choose Flotilla over competitors.

As Grant explains:

“A big part of my role is stripping complexity out of the product. ESG data can be overwhelming, so the challenge is designing something that feels simple and intuitive, while still being robust enough to support real decision making.”

This focus on simplicity and usability is reflected in client feedback. As Kevin Brown, CEO of Pacifica, explains:

“For me, the Flotilla platform is set apart from the kinds of tools and products offered by other net zero partners by its simplicity of use and advanced capabilities.”

Alongside his design work, Grant contributes extensively to front end development, helping bridge the gap between design and engineering. This hybrid skillset allows features to move efficiently from concept to implementation, while maintaining consistency and quality as the platform scales.

Reflecting on Grant’s contribution, Daniel Cox, Development Director at Flotilla, highlights the value this brings as the product and client base grow:

“Grant’s strength is that he understands both the user experience and how the platform works. Design decisions are grounded in real usage and technical reality, which has been critical as we have scaled the product.”

Alongside his day-to-day role, he also played a key part in coordinating Flotilla’s Summer Sports Day 2025, from organising teams to coming up with some impressively creative sporting events on the day. It was a great example of Flotilla’s Smart and Restless culture in action.

Grant’s journey is a reminder of how individual growth and business growth often go hand in hand.
